From the sunny island of Phuket Part 1

SUMMER 2014

Hello errrrrrbody! I'm finally back with another post! It's been wayyyy too long and now I've finally got the time and the energy to start blogging again! :)
So let's see... Where have I left off? Oh yes. Finals. Well my finals this term lasted for about a week or so and I had 4 papers! :) After this semester, I was hoping that I'd be more clear on what I want as a major. I think I've got a pretty good idea now. BUT... let's just wait till the results are out before I confirm my choice and I'll update more again. Till then, let's just keep our fingers crossed and hearts praying :)

So what have I been busy with... well... things couldn't get more rushed for me as I jetted off to the island of Phuket 1 day after my last paper! Had to rush my packing... I had A LOT to pack for a week's worth of vacationing.... hey... I'm a girl. Gimme a break. Vanity is in the blood. I ain't afraid to say it. This post shall be the first part of my trip. I spent a good 7 days over there and there is simply too many things to express in one post. So the last 3-4 days worth of activities would be saved for the next post. Stay tuned :)

So anyway, at 6:30AM the next day I was at the airport and mega excited to start the trip on a good note and of course... With Mac's breakkkkfast! :) Now all you health freaks hold your horses... I don't always eat macs. Haven't had one in months. So I think i'm good in the health department. But of course... The diet in Phuket wasn't exactly healthy either. That said, I'm on a juice fast now. Let's see how it pans out. Gonna review it and blog about it once I'm done with it :)

On the way to the airport!! :) Our tired faces...

Anyway... The classic, must-have OOTD shot: Courtesy of the boyfriend.

:)

With the necklace that I bought from Taobao together with Sylvia :)
If you're reading this. I love you gal!

Having slept so little the previous night and the many nights before that in prep of finals... I must say... My face is holding up pretty well.

Time to board! :)

Our smiley faces!

Filling up the arrival forms :)
Mandatory emo-look out of the window shot! HAHA!

1 hour 40 minutes later, we've arrived safely at Phuket and ready to explore this sunny, majestic island. :) The procedures at the airport wasn't all pleasant though...
Having been to Phuket with the family before, I approached the same tour agency for the snorkelling package that we planned to do on the 3rd day of our stay. Things went smoothly there, we even signed up to watch the Simon Cabaret Show (A must watch if you're here in Phuket or basically in Thailand), the show performers are lady boys and man oh man... They're even sexier than me... Okay.. I know that's not saying alot... HAHAHAHA! Man... Their legs are endless... Okay, I'll let photos do the talking later...

Anyway, once all the planning for the activities are done, we went out to get a transport to our hotel. This is where the majorly irritating and disgusting part comes in. We paid for a cab 300 baht to transport us and our belongings to the hotel and we were ushered outside in the scorching heat and told to WAIT FOR AWHILE. So we did... for a good 45 MINUTES IN THE FUCKING SUN.
The ever-patient boyfriend was a little irritated at the heat but did no complaining as he is always rather more... Chill... Well, as you guessed it, I wasn't as patient... No, I WAS FURIOUS!!!!
Mind you these men who drive these taxis and mini vans work for the companies and were not as well-versed in English. After many hand gestures and simple English words, I understood what they mean... They needed 12 people before they would move the fucking van and we were NOT told of this before we purchased the tickets.

What do I do when I'm mad hot and bored? #letmetakeaselfiefirst :)

As we watched people stream out into their taxis and cabs, I got even more furious. I stomped up to them and demanded a refund. It was pretty intimidating with all these men starring at you. But fortunately, the counter lady spoke a little English. She refunded us our money and those men attacked again... "Very cheap, 800 baht we bring you... Taxi with air-con!" Yeah like fuck. I ain't patronizing your company anymore. I grabbed the boyfriend and left those assholes. Completely ruined my start to the Holiday. If I'm not wrong, this taxi service company is situated inside the airport and they will prey on unsuspecting tourist. Promising you good transport and shit. Can't remember the name of the company because there are MANY OF THEM. So please beware if anyone of you is heading to Phuket! Their workers are wearing blue work shirts and black pants. Easily recognizable.

If you're travelling with a big group, book a minivan. It's cheaper that way. And if you're travelling as a couple like I did, Best to get a taxi that travels with a METER. That's what I did anyway... No hassle, no hidden surcharge, no tips needed. Cheapest way ever. We got a quote from the lady running the taxis with meters and an extra 100 baht is the starting fare as with all other taxis, similar to Singapore but in the cab, there isn't any meter. Their rates are based on the area that you're going. As for us, our hotel was very close to Patong Beach. So it was good. The rate was 700 baht total. We decided to pay and make up for precious time that was wasted with those assholes back there.

The trip was smooth and I actually slept. The journey was about an hour. (Very common in Phuket because the area is big and the airport is at one end of the island).

This holiday, we stayed at two locations: 1. CITRUS HEIGHTS 2. KIRI VILLAS RESORT
In this post, I'll be reviewing my stay so that you can better make your judgment the next time you wanna travel to Phuket :)

Anyway, Citrus heights is situated at 160/36, Phang Mueng Sai Kor Road, Soi, Kathu, 8315. It's also very close to Patong beach. Spent a good 3 days 2 nights in this hotel and I must say it's really convenient! The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and from Patong beach and Jungceylon Shopping mall. So if you're looking to save on transport, opt for the shuttle service. They provide these shuttle bus services at convenient timings as well!

So once we checked into the hotel... We unpacked, showered and really... Just slept for a good hour. We were both exhausted from the travelling and settling.

After that, we decided to make our way out to take in the sights of Phuket and start exploring the place. Our hotel is situated right next to a bunch of shophouses selling food, spa, massages! There was even a night market (something like a pasar malam) near the vicinity (walking distance).

We decided to fill our bellies with food since we were relatively hungry from the flight! Visited a café called "Alexander Café". Got ourselves a chilled coke and sprite!

When you see coke or sprite in a GLASS BOTTLE, you know you're on a holiday! :)

Yup, I'm pretty happy :)

So after all the chilling, we decided to make our way to the Simon Cabaret show that we've booked :) Previously when I visited with my parents, we had lousy seats all the way at the back! This time, we got VIP seats and were situated right in the front :) Yes! First class view to the lady boyssss!

Happy is us, Us is Happy!

Had a number of people starring at me when this shot was taken! HAHAHA MALU!

Yup! ROW D!! :) Get these VIP seats, they only cost $4 Singapore dollars more.
But you have a much better view :)

See what I mean? SEXY!!!
Now pardon the upcoming photos, my phone died. Had to use the boyfri's 4G iphone cam!

Waiting for the show to startttt!
:) Hugs!

As you can see, he is not very stoked about taking photos with me. Especially not after taking 34923478324 photos! HAHA! But he's a good sport! :)

Okay! Last one I promise. :)

Photo taking and video-ing is not allowed in the threater. So I only have shots after the show and the show was brilliant. :) Their costumes were soooo elaborate and so glittery! :) They did renditions or rather, Lip-syncing of a variety of songs from burlesque to China's 玫瑰花! :)

I was pretty intimidated! They touted for photos like crazy! Pulling people in and then charging them for it. So beware, if you want a photo with them, it'll cost you 200 baht for them! This china girl before me, she grabbed this ladyboy's boob while taking photo! Oh man... HAHA!
And the guy besides me... He's a pretty good dancer in the show :) Pretty cocky looking though!

They dragged keefey in as well! We had to paid total of 400 baht! haha But I guess it was worth it seeing that I'll probably never watch it again! Twice is enough for me!

Just look at the costume!

Once the show's over, we walked back from the venue and took a leisurely stroll, hand in hand :) This trip is really what we needed to revitalize the relationship. Been quarrelling so much lately... It's really taking a toll on us. So many times, we wanted to cancel this trip.. We wanted to just let everything go. But I'm thankful we didn't. And I'm thankful we went on this trip! :) It was a hell of a ride.

Makeup off, Us sleepy heads are off to bed early for tomorrow's action-packed day!

I didn't know how long this post was until I saw the time!! HAHA! Time flies when I get engrossed in typing posts, editing photos and listening to songs. :) Thanks for reading guys, I'll be updating tomorrow on day 2 and 3 hopefully fitting them into a neat post! ;)

For now, I'm gonna turn in already! Sooooo tired :)

Ciao Fellas!

With love,
J
